DIY Tissue Paper Flower Tutorial

We love anything DIY at Party Host Helpers, and these tissue paper flowers are one of our favorite decorations to make! They are super simple to put together, and are a great added piece of decor for any party or gathering you host this season! Make a few and add them to your table as the centerpiece, create a photo wall or hang them from the ceiling in your house! The options are endless…

All you need is:

  • Tissue paper in your favorite colors. You will need 10-12 sheets of paper per flower.
  • Scissors
  • String, paper clips or floral wire

Step 1: Count out 10 sheets of tissue paper and lay them out stacked on top of each other on a flat surface.

Step 2: Accordion fold your tissue paper making each fold approximately 1 inch wide. Fold all the way to the end of the tissue paper. If you are looking to make smaller flowers, cut the accordion in half at this point, and you will create two medium flowers.

Step 3: Tie the string, paper clip or floral wire (any of these will work) around your tissue paper at the halfway point of the stack of accordion folded paper.

Step 4: Cut the edge in a round shape to mimic the petals of a flower. You can cut them round or in triangles depending on what you want the flower to look like at the end.

Step 5: One sheet at a time start gently separating the tissue pieces and pulling upward. Work from both sides, and make sure to pull each sheet individually. Slowly, you will start to see the flower!
